Llynnau Cregennan, beneath the dramatic slopes of Cadair Idris, is a landscape steeped in history. With prehistoric stones and ancient farming remains scattered across the hills, it has been shaped by people for thousands of years.
This encaustic painting was inspired by the beautiful late-summer heather, rugged stone walls and ever-changing mountain light. Layers of molten beeswax and pigment allowed me to capture the softness of the heather against the darker, weathered slopes with storm clouds gathering overhead.
For me, Cregennan is a place where the wildness of the mountains meets the quiet traces of those who have lived and worked here for generations.
